mithril welsh ponies

Welsh ponies and cobs are renowned for their hardiness, constitution and beauty.  We value these attributes and have selected for amenable temperament and for ponies who want to work with us.  Our stud is located on a small farm 60 km’s north of Melbourne, Australia.

Because we only breed a few foals each season, we are able to give the weanlings  the time they need to become ‘good citizens’ - we believe that well handled, good mannered ponies will always have friends in the wider world.

Although we don’t breed primarily for the show ring, our youngsters often do a short season of showing before being started under saddle as this accustoms them to the hustle and bustle of events and they become used to travelling.

Please browse our site and contact us if you would like to know more about our ponies.  We try to keep the site updated, but don’t always succeed.

Ponies are our passion

not our business

Established in 1974, Mithril Welsh Ponies breed five or six  Section B and C foals each year.

Based on old Welsh lines, we aim to breed equine athletes for dressage and jumping.
